The problem Research Buddy solves

Hours are spent doing literature reviews by students and researchers all across the world. Newer researchers often lack the skill which leads to low-quality research papers. Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was to figure out a way to deal with the huge amount of data present in the dataset. We spent time in the exploratory data analysis phase and figure out a way for keeping our RAM from crashing and at the same time overlook or remove the minimum amount of data possible. Designing a good model for the recommendation and the extra features was a challenge, but after a lot of experimenting and discussion, we chose the sentence_transformer to generate the embeddings. This gave the best results. Designing a good web UI, ML model deployment, and a complicated back-end was difficult given the timeline, but we managed to do it.
