Online Interviews Made Easy
The problem REMO solves
Work from home has become the new normal, how would interview from home sound?
- REMO aims at providing an intergrated platform for facilitating the conduction of online interviews. That is where we took inspiration from.
- I attended a technical club interview over a video call during the lockdown period. I had to share my screen and open up multiple applications to show my projects or to code a question. Looking at the way things have turned out from the month of March, we realized that this is not just an issue for students like us, but a problem for those undergoing and conducting the remote interview process.
- There is no interview-specific platform. The ones currently is use are all video-chat applications with a few added functionalities.
- Testing of technical skills requires screen-sharing or giving remote access, neither of which respect the privacy of the candidate. More so, a candidate’s portfolio is an important parameter to gauge the level of expertise and ability, these are accessed by opening multiple tabs and going back and forth.
Challenges we ran into
- Connecting the pre-interview and interview room
- Calling the API’s to set-up the cloud lab
- Integrating the individual functionalities
- Integrating Node JS framework with our website
- Have a running server to set up the virtual machine
