Work from home has become the new normal, how would interview from home sound?
REMO aims at providing an intergrated platform for facilitating the conduction of online interviews. That is where we took inspiration from.
I attended a technical club interview over a video call during the lockdown period. I had to share my screen and open up multiple applications to show my projects or to code a question. Looking at the way things have turned out from the month of March, we realized that this is not just an issue for students like us, but a problem for those undergoing and conducting the remote interview process.
There is no interview-specific platform. The ones currently is use are all video-chat applications with a few added functionalities.
Testing of technical skills requires screen-sharing or giving remote access, neither of which respect the privacy of the candidate. More so, a candidate’s portfolio is an important parameter to gauge the level of expertise and ability, these are accessed by opening multiple tabs and going back and forth.
Challenges we ran into
Connecting the pre-interview and interview room
Calling the API’s to set-up the cloud lab
Integrating the individual functionalities
Integrating Node JS framework with our website
Have a running server to set up the virtual machine
