Make inactive liquidity active, help public goods
The problem RegenX solves
The Problem It Solves
π― Core Problems Addressed
1. Idle DeFi Capital Inefficiency
- Problem: Liquidity providers on Uniswap V4 often have idle capital when positions move out of range
- Solution: Automatically migrates out-of-range liquidity into yield-generating DeFi vaults (Yearn V3, Spark), ensuring capital is always productive
2. Lack of Social Impact in DeFi
- Problem: Traditional DeFi only benefits individual users, with no mechanism for public goods funding
- Solution: Implements automatic profit donations to Octant's GasPool, which funds climate action, open-source software, healthcare, and education initiatives
3. Complex Multi-Vault Management
- Problem: Users must manually research, monitor, and rebalance across multiple yield sources
- Solution: Strategy automatically allocates capital across best-performing vaults (60% Yearn V3, 30% Spark, 10% GasPool buffer) with health checks and rebalancing
4. Gas Cost Barriers
- Problem: Frequent DeFi operations are expensive due to Ethereum gas fees
- Solution: GasPool reimburses keeper gas costs, making automated yield optimization economically viable
π‘ What People Can Use It For
For Individual Users:
- π¦ Automated Savings - Deposit USDC once, earn yield automatically across multiple protocols
- π LP Position Management - Set-and-forget Uniswap V4 positions that self-optimize
- π± Impact Investing - Earn competitive yields while automatically funding public goods
- π‘οΈ Risk Diversification - Single deposit spreads across Aave (via Spark), Yearn, and MakerDAO (via DSR)
For DAOs & Organizations:
- π° Treasury Management - Maximize idle treasury capital while supporting ecosystem growth
- π Transparent Impact - On-chain proof of social contributions
- βοΈ Automated Compliance - Built-in donation mechanism for ESG/CSR goals
For Liquidity Providers:
- π Zero-Waste Capital - Out-of-range LP positions earn yield instead of sitting idle
- π€ Automated Migration - Hook detects range exits and deploys capital instantly
- π Compounding Returns - Vault yields compound while waiting to re-enter LP position
β How It Makes Existing Tasks Easier/Safer
| Traditional DeFi | With RegenX |
|---|---|
| Manual vault research | Automatic allocation to audited, battle-tested protocols |
| Gas-expensive rebalancing | Keeper-driven automation with gas reimbursement |
| Single point of failure | Multi-vault diversification (Yearn + Spark + GasPool) |
| Idle out-of-range capital | Instantly deployed to yield-generating vaults |
| Zero social impact | Automatic public goods funding via Octant |
| Complex strategy monitoring | Health checks and automated reporting |
| Manual profit taking | Profits auto-donated to GasPool for ecosystem growth |
| Opaque performance | Full on-chain transparency with ERC-4626 standard |
π‘οΈ Safety Improvements
Security Features:
- β Built on Octant's battle-tested YDS (Yearn Delegated Strategy) pattern
- β ERC-4626 vault standard for predictable share accounting
- β Health check limits prevent excessive losses
- β Slippage protection on all vault interactions
- β Multi-signature management for strategy parameters
- β Immutable hook address (mined with correct flags)
- β GasPool acts as loss buffer before user funds are affected
Risk Mitigation:
- Diversification across 3+ yield sources reduces smart contract risk
- Keeper system ensures timely position management
- Public goods funding creates aligned ecosystem incentives
- Open-source code enables community audits
π Real-World Impact Example
Scenario: 1,000 users deposit $1,000 USDC each
- Total Capital: $1,000,000 USDC
- Annual Yield (5% average): $50,000 USDC
- Automatic Donations: ~$25,000 USDC/year to public goods
- User Earnings: ~$25,000 USDC/year (users still earn competitive returns)
Public Goods Funded:
- π³ Climate action projects (carbon credits, reforestation)
- π» Open-source software development
- π₯ Healthcare initiatives in underserved areas
- π Education programs and scholarships
This creates a regenerative finance cycle where DeFi usage directly funds societal benefitβmaking finance a force for good while maintaining user profitability.

Challenges I ran into
This was my first time working with Octant v2 and other protocols mentioned in the hackathon and it took me significant time to research everything and integrate it all into a project.
