Directly Backed Trading On-chain: Real Assets, Real Security

The problem RealTrade solves

Our project addresses a critical issue in the blockchain space: the lack of directly backed RWAs. Most existing RWAs are synthetic, meaning they mint tokens based on price feeds without direct connection to the underlying assets. This creates a disconnect and potential trust issues for users.

Our solution introduces directly backed RWAs, where tokens are genuinely backed by real assets. By leveraging Gelato functions, our platform performs off-chain stock purchases, ensuring that each token represents an actual asset. This approach significantly improves trust, transparency, and the overall value proposition of RWAs on the blockchain.

Additionally, we integrate Redstone price feeds to obtain accurate, real-time prices on-chain, further enhancing the reliability and credibility of our platform. This combination bridges the gap between traditional finance and blockchain technology, bringing a new level of assurance to the world of RWAs.

Currently it supports buy/sell of: AAPL, AMZN, NASDAQ and S&P 500

Challenges I ran into

Developing this project presented several challenges:

  • Debugging Gelato Functions: I spent several days debugging issues related to Gelato functions, particularly when working with Lisk Sepolia. After extensive testing and analysis, I discovered that the problem was rooted in the backend of Gelato's Function with Lisk Sepolia. I promptly informed the Gelato team, who have since worked on resolving the issue.

  • Integration with Redstone Oracle: Building a robust web application that incorporates the Redstone Oracle for transaction processing, including the Redstone price feed, required meticulous attention to detail. This process involved ensuring that all transactions were accurately infused with real-time price data from the oracle.

  • Writing TypeScript Functions: Once the debugging was complete, I developed TypeScript functions to handle buy/sell requests efficiently. These functions are designed to ensure that trades are only executed when the market is open, adding an extra layer of reliability to our platform.

Despite these challenges, the experience reinforced our belief that Lisk has significant potential as Ethereum's financial layer, offering exciting possibilities for future development.
