The problem Real - Time Blood donation System solves
During medical emergencies, finding the required blood group on time is a major challenge. Patients and hospitals often rely on manual phone calls, outdated records, or personal contacts, which leads to delays, misinformation, and sometimes loss of life.
There is no centralized, real-time system that connects blood donors, patients, and blood banks based on location and availability. As a result, even willing donors are unable to respond quickly, and patients struggle to access nearby blood resources when every minute matters.
BloodLink solves this problem by providing a real-time, location-based digital platform that instantly connects patients with nearby donors and blood banks, ensuring faster response, better coordination, and safer access to blood during emergencies.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing location- and range-based filtering for both donors and blood banks by city and blood group was challenging, as it required accurate matching and efficient logic to ensure only nearby and eligible results were shown during emergency searches.
The core logic is based on latitude and longitude. When a user enters a pin code, we convert it into latitude and longitude coordinates. We then calculate the distance within the specified range and match it with the stored latitude and longitude of donors and blood banks. Based on this range calculation, nearby eligible donors and blood banks are returned
accurately.
