The problem Rankr solves
🎵 The Problem It Solves
People love being social — sharing things, competing, and having a bit of fun, especially when there’s something at stake. Rankr combines these elements into a playful social experience around music.
Users can share their favorite songs, rank them, and even place small bets on which track will become the most popular.
By turning simple music sharing into a friendly, value-based competition, Rankr makes social interaction more engaging, gamified, and rewarding. It encourages discovery, sparks conversations, and adds a fun economic twist to everyday music sharing.
Challenges I ran into
⚙️ Challenges I Ran Into
Our initial idea was to use ZAMA FHE (Fully Homomorphic Encryption) to make the voting process completely private. However, we quickly realized that this technology is still highly complex and not easy to integrate without a deep understanding of cryptography and FHE frameworks.
We decided to postpone that feature for now and focus on building a fully functional, transparent prototype first. Once the core gameplay and flow are solid, we plan to revisit FHE integration to enhance privacy and make the ranking process both fun and secure.

What is your product’s unique value proposition?
🌟 Unique Value Proposition
Rankr turns social interaction into a fun, competitive, and value-driven experience. Unlike traditional music-sharing apps that focus only on likes or views, Rankr introduces a ranking game with real stakes — where users put a small amount of value behind their opinions and get rewarded for accurate predictions.
This mix of social sharing, micro-betting, and collective ranking creates a new kind of engagement loop — one that’s playful, fair, and economically meaningful.
Our alpha build already demonstrates this by:
- Allowing users to submit and rank songs in real-time
- Managing entry fees and prize pools automatically through smart contracts
- Rewarding top-ranked users transparently and trustlessly
- Enabling seamless sharing and interaction on Farcaster, bringing on-chain engagement into the social graph
In short, Rankr validates that social competition can be both entertaining and economically empowering, powered entirely by on-chain logic and amplified through open social networks like Farcaster.
Who is your target customer?
🎯 Target Customer
Our target audience is a new generation of socially active, crypto-curious music lovers — people who enjoy discovering new tracks, sharing opinions, and competing in fun, gamified environments.
They’re the kind of users already spending time on platforms like Farcaster, Warpcast, and Sound.xyz, where social interaction meets Web3 culture. These users value transparency, ownership, and playful engagement — and they’re open to experimenting with on-chain social apps that reward participation.
Through early feedback and testing within the Farcaster community, we confirmed strong interest in a music-based social game that blends cultural expression, friendly competition, and real incentives. Users loved the concept of ranking songs with small stakes involved, as it adds excitement and meaning to everyday music sharing.
Who are your closest competitors and how are you different?
🧩 Competitors & Differentiation
There are several projects exploring social music discovery and on-chain engagement, but Rankr takes a unique, gamified approach that blends culture, competition, and value.
🎵 Closest Competitors
- Sound.xyz — a Web3 music platform that empowers artists and fans through collectible releases and streaming rewards.
- Audius — a decentralized streaming platform focused on artist ownership and music distribution.
- Catalog — a marketplace for one-of-one music NFTs, emphasizing artist autonomy and provenance.
💡 How Rankr Is Different
- Gamified Ranking System: Instead of passive streaming or collecting, users actively rank songs and earn rewards based on community consensus.
- Micro-Stake Social Play: Small entry fees and prize pools introduce meaningful competition without high financial barriers.
- Farcaster Integration: Built for open social graphs — users can share rankings, rounds, and results directly on Farcaster, creating social virality.
- On-Chain Transparency: Every round, bet, and payout is handled trustlessly by smart contracts — no middlemen, no hidden logic.
In essence, Rankr doesn’t just let users listen — it lets them play, predict, and profit from their taste in music.
What is your distribution strategy and why?
🚀 Distribution Strategy
Our distribution strategy is community-driven and social-first, leveraging the viral nature of sharing, ranking, and competition to grow organically within Web3-native spaces.
🌐 Core Channels
- Farcaster Integration: Since Rankr already connects to Farcaster, users can instantly share their rankings, wins, and song links on their social feed — turning every interaction into natural promotion.
- Music & Web3 Communities: We’re targeting active communities on Warpcast, Sound.xyz, and Lens, where social and cultural discovery already thrives.
- Creator Collaborations: Partnering with emerging artists, DJs, and music curators who want to engage fans through on-chain social games.
- Contests & Themed Rounds: Hosting seasonal or genre-based ranking rounds to attract niche audiences (e.g., “Best Lo-Fi track of the week”).
💬 Why This Fits
Rankr’s experience is interactive, shareable, and reward-based, making it perfect for organic social growth. Instead of paid acquisition, we rely on user-generated content, friendly competition, and community rewards to attract and retain users.
By integrating directly with Farcaster’s open ecosystem, Rankr grows where conversations already happen — turning every vote and ranking into a social moment.
