The problem Psilly Heads solves
Imaging software is expensive and presents a learning curve that most might not be willing to endure just to alter an NFT for a social media post. I built a discord bot that gives members the ability to alter their NFTs without using any external imaging software. They can select any token in the collection and change it 15 different ways including an Opepen Edition, remove the background, as well as upload their own background.
It also solves the problem of having an ACTIVE base community that shows up daily and VIBES. The quality of people who found eachother through this project is second to none. The discord is active and there is almost always someone in the VC.
Challenges I ran into
From generating the individual NFTs with metadata, to building a discord bot and website. Everything but the art has pretty much been a challenge.
I was able to write a script to generate the unique images based off the traits I designed and generate the metadata after a lot of effort and tinkering. Then I created a contract and mint page for mint, but realized that no one was going to mint on my website from a project they have never heard of. So, I uploaded to OpenSea and deployed a contract through their studio so that others would feel safe minting. I'm not very good with promotion so I assumed it would also help the visibility, as I only had about 15 followers on X.
After mint on 4/20/24, I built a quick discord, and immediately began work on making an awesome discord bot and new website. When it comes to the site, I am more of a backend developer(jr), so I had a bit of trouble just building a client-facing site (still WIP). Some of my favorite projects also have a discord bot that alters people's specific NFTs. I have always loved that feature and I knew I wanted to give the bot that capability since social isn't one of my strengths and this will generate a lot of UGC. I then reasearched canvas and put it to work with the raw trait files and the metadata. It is an ongoing process, constantly adding commands and different alterations to the art, new backgrounds, and background formats for custom user uploads.
Although a free mint, another challenge was trying to provide some value. I was able to get a 3d model made and integrated into Nifty Island on 5/10, making Psilly Heads a community on the platoform as well as an "airdrop eligible" collection. Psilly holders will recieve a tier score based off holdings, and become eligible for their upcoming airdrop of $island, for holding a Psilly Head. Working on additional airdrop eligibility for additional token airdrops as well.
