The problem Proactive Intelligent Personal Assistant solves

Existing tool attempt to block distractions such as youtube, twitter, or other user-defined apps and pages. This doesn't work as it is tedious to configure. It also doesn't work because distractions can appear as serious work like reading a research paper unrelated to your task of say filing taxes.

Challenges I ran into

  • Online iterative learning (from user feedback) with no pertaining. Using a Neural Network classifier on top of a large language model.
  • Finding the right balance between prompting the user sufficiently for learning without being too noisy. I solved this with adaptive thresholding and rate limiting
  • Getting active window screenshots. There is no direct API on macOS to get the active window ID / Screenshot. I solved that by getting the full window list and filtering on various properties.
