Growing With Pride

The problem PrideUp solves

As per the petition signed against article 377, economic damage due to Homophobia is caused by the loss of 'PINKMONEY' or the purchasing power of the LGBTQ community.
In the corporate world. there is a huge gap and discrimination faced by members of LGBTQ, they often tend to launch their own business. As per the survey by CSDS, young Indians are misogynist and homophobic. Offline small LGBTQ businesses often face discrimination and even sometimes face assault and humiliation. To empower such small businesses we aim to develop an E-commerce platform and healthy community for them.

LGBTQ members can list their products on our website and people from across India can purchase the products. These products can be from handlooms to homemade items, anything small-scaled non-industrialized. When people would purchase from our website, they would be assisting the LGBTQ community in a positive way.

2nd segment would be that people will be able to join the community as an ally or as a member of the pride community itself.
They would be able to chat in real-time with other members and with people involved. They can post blogs, photographs from the events they participated in, coming out stories, event notifications etc.

At last, Sellers who want to support the people of the pride community can list their products with the tag of an ally and then they will be donating a small amount from their profit to the community. People who genuinely want to help can also donate money through our website.
Verified links will be provided on our website.

Challenges we ran into

Real-time chat using Django, found a bit challenging to keep up with the real-time chat.
