Popcorn

We entertain the decentralized world and also help connect keen viewers and little-known creators to make their content available to the world. Creators and viewers are both benefitted.

The problem Popcorn solves

  1. Movies are seen by billions but produced by a handful. Movies and other media contents have paved way for many changes in society and we believe that the choice of funding something so impactful and integral to everyone should not be left to a centralised identity.
  2. Some amazing content might have just died with "the thinker" cause they didnt have a backer. We want people to back such amazing contents and thinkers.
  3. Content creation is the new "startups" so there needs to be a funding platform for that as well.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Dapps cannot interact with notifications in Push protocol. The team acknowledged the same when we talked about it.
  2. Livepeer is a new technology that we came across, so we had difficulty in implementing the same. Their team helped a lot through the process and made us ease into the software.
  3. Integration of web3.js with the front end is a difficult part which took much of our time to smoothen out.
  4. Storing data on chain comes with an extra cost in the form of fees that has to be paid by the user. For example, data such as the movie titles were more relevant.
  5. The proposal hash is already on the chain which can be used to verify that the proposal is unaltered.
