Challenges we ran into

Detecting the Active Stream URL in the Extension

Problem: Different streaming platforms (Twitch, YouTube Live, Kick) have unique URL structures, making it tricky for the extension to reliably detect when a viewer is watching a live stream.

Solution: Implemented platform-specific URL pattern matching and event listeners that trigger only when a valid live stream is detected.

Integrating Wallet Connection Smoothly in a Chrome Extension

Problem: Some wallets had limited or inconsistent API support in extension contexts, especially with content scripts.

Solution: Used a background script as a bridge between the content script and the wallet API, ensuring a smooth connection process.

Handling Small Stablecoin Transactions with Minimal Fees

Problem: On mainnet Ethereum, gas fees could be higher than the donation amount.

Solution: Integrated with Ethereum Layer 2 networks (e.g., Polygon, Arbitrum) to ensure near-zero fees while maintaining Ethereum compatibility.

Real-Time Donation Alerts for Streamers

Problem: Donations were received on-chain, but updating the streamer’s overlay in real-time without delay was challenging.
