The problem Physio-mize: Physiotherapy Optimized solves
The problem we aim to address is the lack of affordable and accessible joint angle measurement devices for remote physiotherapy. Many patients, especially those in underserved communities, lacking mobility and low-income backgrounds, face challenges in accessing regular physiotherapy sessions due to distance, cost, and limited availability of healthcare resources. Furthermore, tracking and monitoring joint movement accurately is crucial in assessing the progress of physiotherapy and tailoring treatment plans based on individual needs. Our goal is to create a small, inexpensive, and easy-to-use box that can be attached near joints to provide accurate angle measurements, enabling remote physiotherapy and assisting healthcare professionals in assessing patients' performance and progress. The problem statement is directly in relation to UN SDG of good health and well-being.
Challenges we ran into
There are many challenges we faced:
1-hardware: We wanted the hardware to be affordable, accurate, and accessible. We chose the NodeMCU board to get a universal connection with any device having WiFi, solving platform independence.
2- software: The novel idea of being able to pinpoint the exact location of pain on a 3D model is tough to develop. We facing a lot of problems with not being able to adapt the 3D coordinate system into a 2D pinpoint model.
3- Server Side: The confidential storing of medical data is important and necessary creating a great way for the secure transfer of data and the physiotherapist being able to instantly view and give his feedback from his portal with necessary graphic statistics.
4- overall: We would say the biggest hurdle was to create a device adaptable to multiple joints and having seamless integration with software to provide an easy-to-use interface with just a single UI button system to input ur pain intensity and exact range of pain,
