The problem Phoenix Cart solves

The platform addresses the issue of few crypto payment solutions for online payments by embedding the widely used decentralized wallet, MetaMask. This connection enables users to connect and conduct safe, clear transactions at the blockchain level such that there is no reliance on the centralised payment systems which have built a loss of confidence amongst users because of the prevalence of issues such as fraud and data compromise. The platform also addresses the above problems by having less intermediaries by streamlining inefficiencies inherent in the traditional payment systems of which delays and costs are some of the issues making payments costly and taking unnecessary time to process. Overall, it makes the entire payment process more secure and more effective especially to the users who opt for the cryptocurrency option.

Challenges we ran into

The most difficult part of the platform's creation was that it involved multiple integration steps to connect MetaMask to enable easy login and payment. It took a lot of work from their developer tools and many tests to finally get it running smoothly. Also, to make it user-friendly for those not in the crypto game, we added step-by-step guides and real-time crypto-to-fiat conversion. Transaction speed and costs were among the issues, so we used the layer-2 solutions or faster blockchains to keep fees really low and transactions quick. Security was important, so additional protections like two-factor authentications and alerts for transactions were needed. Finally, building a trust in crypto payments was what we needed to do most, so we focused on educating and providing great support to all users. This made it possible for us to overcome the challenges and design an easy-to-use and secure shopping platform.
