Challenges we ran into
🧩 Challenge Faced During Development
During the development of PhishX, we ran into a critical issue:
our app suddenly stopped fetching the updated lists of dangerous websites and scam keywords.
This created a serious problem—our system couldn’t block phishing links or filter messages correctly based on our allowlist and denylist rules.
At first, the cause wasn’t obvious. After investigation, we discovered that the data was arriving after our system had already tried to use it. As a result, the protection engine was working with outdated or missing information.
✅ How We Solved It:
We restructured our app to wait for the data to fully load before using it.
We added a backup system that uses the last saved version of the data in case the live fetch fails.
💡 What We Learned:
This challenge taught us the value of building resilient systems—ones that stay functional even when things go wrong. It helped make PhishX more reliable, stable, and user-focused.
