PERSONAL SAFETY ALERTZ APP πŸ‘§πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§οΈπŸ”‹

Bringing you the PERSONAL SAFETY ALERTZ APP to assure your loved ones about your safety.

The problem PERSONAL SAFETY ALERTZ APP πŸ‘§πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§οΈπŸ”‹ solves

Our app focuses on providing following functionalities:

  1. Instant message to close friends: Whenever the user’s battery drains below a certain limit(x%) our app automatically sends an SMS alert message to the trusted contacts specifying user’s text, battery % and a link to current location in Google Maps.

  2. Manual Alert: It is also possible to manually send an alert on just a single tap of the button, a pre-saved personalized text message along with the users current location will be sent directly as an SMS to the users trusted contacts.

  3. Emergency buttons: In the need of emergency, the user can now easily call the police, ambulance or fire brigade, by clicking on respective emergency buttons without any hassle of dialing the numbers.

  4. Offline availability: No need for the internet to alert your trusted ones as the app tracks the user’s current location via GPS as well as their battery percentage.

  5. Simplicity: We have kept GUI of the app as simple as possible so that people of all age groups will find it easy to use this app.

Future Scope:

If the project is accepted by the government, we can create a login for every user by Adhar Card/ Mobile No. and scale up the database to keep records all the Emergency alerts people sent or when they dialed a national helpline.

This data can be used for further analysis to find the crime rates or accident rates region wise in a state/ country.
So it would help the government know that which areas in our state/country need strict CCTV surveillance and police patroling.
This would help reduce crime/ accident rates in our state/country.

Challenges we ran into

  1. We were facing Dashboard and MainActivity Conflicts. So we overcame this problem by making a few changes in AndroidManifest.xml File.
  2. Our app was crashing whenever we saved less than 3 contacts. So we overcame it by adding some if-else conditions, now we can add minimum 1 and maximum 3 contacts.

Note:

  1. Before testing the app please make sure you have given all the permissions it requires from your mobile Settings.
  2. In the emergency dial we have added our own numbers for police, ambulance and fire brigade.
