Why are you participating for Based Africa?

We’re participating in Based Africa to address the significant challenges faced by small-scale farmers across Africa. Many farmers struggle to access fair financial resources and support due to lack of transparency and infrastructure. By utilizing decentralized technology, PamojaFi empowers these communities to take control of their agricultural projects, promoting transparency and sustainability while leveraging Base blockchain to revolutionize the way farmers connect with contributors.

What challenges are you focusing on?

PamojaFi addresses the challenges of limited access to funding, fair resource allocation, and transparent decision-making processes for small-scale farmers. We focus on building trust between farmers and contributors (investors, donors, agribusinesses) by implementing a community-driven governance model that uses blockchain to ensure secure, decentralized, and transparent operations.

How does your submission address this challenge?

PamojaFi helps small-scale farmers by connecting them with resources and funding through a decentralized platform. Using Base Blockchain and Base Attestations, we verify users, like farmers and contributors, ensuring that only real participants can submit projects, vote, and allocate resources.

Our DAO-based governance allows the community to vote on which farming projects get funded, making decisions fair and transparent. Funds are distributed through ERC4626C smart contracts, ensuring farmers receive the money securely in stages as they complete milestones. This guarantees funds are used responsibly and effectively.

Challenges we ran into

Developing the DAO for governance and the PamojaFi smart contract was a challenge. It took time to build a system that allows easy proposal submission, community voting, and safe fund transfers.

We also faced issues with Coinbase Wallet, which wasn’t responsive during our testing. To solve this, we switched to MetaMask to provide a smoother and more reliable experience for users.

Despite these challenges, PamojaFi offers a secure and transparent way to help farmers get the resources they need, driven by community decisions.
