The problem PacKirana solves

Despite the boom in e-commerce sector in India, majority of Indians continue to have more faith in the neighbourhood stores for shopping as there are several reasons for it one of the examples is the trust they have in the neighbourhood stores.
Enter the novel coronavirus which causes a highly infectious disease i.e COVID-19 has infected all the people worldwide. Since it spreads primarily through contact with an infected person or when a person touches a surface that has the virus on it, the best way to guard against it is to stay at home. This has increased online shopping usage, globally. In India, it has led to a rise in the number of first-time-ecommerce-users, who had been so far inhibited to shop online. It has dramatically changed people’s shopping habits as they are afraid of shopping outdoors. And it has led to a reverse effect on the local small grocery shops.

In the current scenario, customers have to visit the grocery shop and then wait for the shopkeeper to complete the previous customer’s order.
Considering the pain of local shopkeepers, the online market has hampered the local small shops. In the present scenario, the current local market is unorganized and completely offline.
Packirana aims at being an E-commerce website that would co-exist with the local Kirana Stores and not bypass them.

Also during the covid times, it's dangerous to visit crowded places and wait there for your turn. The above picture from the local Kirana store is really scary in the times of COVID.

Consider a scenario where you are asked to go to the grocery store to get the required products after you just reach home after a tired working day or you have to visit the grocery store on your way back to home from the office, which is followed by standing and waiting at the store by the time the shopkeeper gets all the listed item for you. Doesn’t it sound dull?
Well we have of a solution for it!!

Challenges we ran into

It was our first MERN stack application so intergating our web application with the MongoDB was a challenge for us which we overcame by doing and learning during this hackathon.
