The problem PacBase solves
Most Web3 apps feel too serious or complex.
PacBase brings fun, nostalgia, and simplicity to the Base ecosystem.
It shows that onchain can also be playful and accessible.
Challenges I ran into
While building PacBase, I faced a few unexpected challenges.
One of the most persistent bugs was a mysterious background sound that kept playing every time Pac-Man moved. Even after I removed the audio file, it kept triggering. It turned out to be an old, leftover script that was still calling .play() on a deleted audio element. Finding and removing it took some debugging and testing.
Another challenge was syncing on-chain score saving with smooth gameplay. I wanted to make sure saving results to Base would feel fast and seamless. After a few iterations, I minimized the transaction delay and added visual feedback so users know their score was saved.
Lastly, I worked on balancing retro aesthetics with modern Web3 logic — making it feel like the 90s, but run onchain. That required thoughtful design and a lot of testing across devices.
