Unlock the World of Exclusive Video NFTs: Where Art Meets Auction

The problem OwnExclusive solves

The problem OwnExclusive solves is the challenge faced by artists and creators who want to maintain the power of exclusivity for their video-based content in the realm of NFTs. Traditional NFT platforms often make content publicly accessible, which undermines the sense of exclusivity that artists desire. This becomes particularly problematic for video-based content, as it is more susceptible to piracy and unauthorized distribution.

OwnExclusive addresses this issue by implementing a unique feature that allows only the owner of the NFT to view the content through the bidding process. By incorporating VOD access control using Livepeer, the platform ensures the video NFT remains securely accessible only to its rightful owner.
Using blockchain technology, we aim to strike a balance between transparency and exclusivity, OwnExclusive empowers artists and creators to securely share their encrypted video NFTs with their followers and supporters. It enables them to protect their content from unauthorized access or distribution while preserving its value and desirability in the market. The platform makes it easier and safer for artists, filmmakers, and content creators to showcase their work, gain recognition, and monetize their creativity unprecedentedly.

We incorporated Push protocol to notify followers/subscribers of an artist whenever a new auction is started. We leveraged Polybase to store transaction information, such as the seller, buyer, bid amount, and timestamp. We also used Polybase to create usernames for users to recognize and search users easily, as well as a chat feature if creators are reached out for ads or collaborations. Polybase provided us with a way to store data in a decentralized way without transaction fees which made the dapp user-friendly.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of OwnExclusive, we encountered various challenges that required innovative solutions. One notable hurdle we faced was integrating the Livepeer video access control system seamlessly within our platform. We experienced initial difficulties in configuring and fine-tuning the access permissions to ensure a smooth and secure ownership-based video viewing experience with the webhooks.

To overcome this challenge, we collaborated with the Livepeer community, seeking their expertise and guidance. Through diligent debugging and troubleshooting, we gradually resolved the configuration issues, optimizing the access control mechanisms for video ownership.

Initially, while integrating the push protocol functions for timely notifications we faced problems. But, our team worked diligently to align the notification system with the video publishing process, enhancing the reliability and responsiveness of the Push Protocol.

Getting started with Polybase was a little confusing, but reading through the documentation helped. Testing out for the first few times took some time, but later on, the polybase functions were working perfectly. Little debugging and connection using ReactJs, was fun and bought our team together in building this application.
