Oppa - ICP's Dev Account Controller
Bringing Devs on ICP new capabilities to create developer controlled user wallets
The problem Oppa - ICP's Dev Account Controller solves
When developing a consumer focused product (Mainly for non web3 users), developers may need to create user wallets for them to operate through web 3 without them needing to have a non-custodial wallet and developer control to execute transactions and movements on behalf of the consumer.
This tool enables them to do so.
User Interaction and Data Flow
The developer calls the API through HTTP requests and with this the API gives them a provider key to their wallet with which allows them to create multiple user wallet accounts and control them centrally through their provider keys.
The project architecture and development process
Using the ledger cannister on ICP we developed a new functionality to create multiple user accounts, and control them centrally to perform transactions on behalf of the users, whenever a developer connects for the first time to our API, this dev tool gives them a provider key to their wallet to control all of the wallets created by his wallet.
Thus, our team cannot modify, transact or delete accounts because the provider key is needed to transact on behalf of someone.
Product Integrations
To develop this project we connected to the Ledger Cannister of ICP which created all of the wallets living inside the ICP ecosystem, then we developed our own API so that new ICP devs can connect to our flow, get their provider keys and start creating dev controlled user wallets.
Key differentiators and uniqueness of the project
Inside the ICP ecosystem this is the only solution of its kind, inspired by the Circle's SDK that works on other chains to create programmable wallets that have this capabilities, we created the later for the ICP development ecosystem, leveraging the ICP Speed that works faster than in any other chain.
Trade-offs and shortcuts while building
One of the key decisions for building this project was that we needed this kind of tools to develop other product running on ICP, since the team knew about Circle's SDK and dev toolkits this was the inspiration to create something similar inside the ICP ecosystem and with this features on ICP keep developing on the near future other projects.
One of the quick fixes and maybe future work was that one of the main wallets on ICP doesn't work on the mobile integrations, so this made us create a new workflow for web rather than using an apps API.
