Smart milestone-based crowdfunding with on-chain e
The problem OpenPledge solves
Traditional crowdfunding platforms lack transparency and accountability.
Creators receive all the funds upfront, and backers have no control once money is sent. Refunds are hard, updates are inconsistent, and trust is often broken.
OpenPledge fixes this by introducing milestone-based funding on-chain — where funds are only released when real progress is verified and approved by backers.
Challenges I ran into
Designing a secure milestone escrow state machine.
Preventing Sybil attacks in backer voting.
Building walletless UX with account abstraction.
Handling on-chain/off-chain proof sync (EAS + Chainlink).
Minimizing gas costs for small transactions.

What is your product’s unique value proposition?
Milestone Escrow Contracts: Funds are locked in smart contracts and released only after each milestone is completed and verified.
Backer Governance: Backers vote to approve milestone progress before funds unlock.
Instant Refunds: Failed milestones automatically trigger partial or full refunds.
Proof of Progress: Integration with GitHub, Chainlink Automation, and EAS for verifiable updates.
User-Friendly Onboarding: Account abstraction and fiat on-ramp for non-crypto users.
OpenPledge combines Web3 transparency with the simplicity of Web2 crowdfunding.
Who is your target customer?
Indie developers and open-source maintainers seeking transparent, stage-based funding.
Small NGOs and creators who must report on progress.
Web3 builders / DAO projects running community-funded initiatives.
Early adopters: hackathon teams, community developers, and micro-grant organizers.
Who are your closest competitors and how are you different?
| Kickstarter / GoFundMe | No escrow, no refunds, centralized trust | On-chain milestone escrow, transparent updates |
| Gitcoin / RetroPGF | Focused on grants, not project milestones | Stage-by-stage funding with real-time validation |
| Mirror Crowdfund | Basic token-based funding | Structured milestone model + backer control |
What is your distribution strategy and why?
Hackathon & Builder Programs: onboard early dev teams and DAO projects.
Partnerships: integrate with grant platforms and launchpads.
Community Marketing: incentivize creators to share their milestones publicly.
Embed Widget: allow campaign embedding on websites and Notion pages.
SEO & Content: publish transparent progress stories to attract backers.
Why it fits: this strategy directly targets builders and creators who already use crypto tools.
