Empowering Open Source Heroes: Solve, Contribute, Earn Ethers!"
The problem Open Source Orbit - A Decentralized OSS Platform solves
Global Contributors, Local Currencies: The challenge faced by open source contributors of ensuring smooth dollar payouts amidst diverse currencies, prompting the need for a streamlined cross-border transaction system within ecosystem.
In open-source repositories, projects with fewer stars often receive limited visibility, reducing opportunities for contributions from other developers.
Hassle of accepting International Payments: Developers find it difficult to accept payments in their own currencies as most of the projects are sparsely located throughout the globe.
Lack of Transparency: Current Centralized Platforms lack transparency and fail to provide an environment where developers can easily find projects to work on, resolve project issues, and receive appropriate rewards for their valuable contributions.
Challenges we ran into
First and formost was integrating Github APIs was also challenging as we had never worked with Github Libraries before.
To deploy using zkEVM, we needed fake ether and the only bridge we could use had Goerli, and finding Goerli faucet is a real challenge! But the Nujan channel on Telegram helped a lot.
At the end we tried deploying it on Vercel but we could not fix npm version as one in ours was different, Firebase came as saviour and at the end we built and deployed it headlessly on Firebase Hosting.
