An app for omi which acts as a mentor for people using omi to collect realtime transcripts of conversations.
The problem Omi Mentor solves
Anyone using the omi app and device when having a conversation and the device is listening will automatically trigger the mentor app in order to provide feedback to the user concerning whatever the user is going through, think arguments, conversations, deep thoughts and anything else, the mentor will get the topics of what the user is talking about and the conversation as context and give advice to the user based on what they know about the user. It can give advice, help users make better decisions and even give straight up no nonsense advice when a user gets something wrong. It can also interrupt the user when necessary to provide important feedback.
Challenges I ran into
Oh they were a lot of challenges to be honest, I had to use the example code as a guide and it was written in flask so I had to rewrite in FastAPI, this was the first challenge, then there were some bugs I had to fix concerning prompt templates for the notifications, I also ran into a major issue for sending notifications concerning advice given by the mentor after a specific time, I had to disable the feature since the it hijacks the main thread and make the app unusable, though I think cron jobs would be better, though I would have to work on it in future iterations. Then there was the sending notifications, the AI model to use and ensuring the transcripts are well recieved. But overall it was a good experience getting over each of these individual issues, some would have to be fixed over time, I'm sure I can do such if given the chance as well, but yeah, I hope for the best with this one. I fixed a lot and created a lot as well.
