Noah’s Arc

Preserving cultural heritage on blockchain.

Why are you participating for Based LatAm?

Participating in Based LatAm allows me to contribute to the digital transformation of our cultural heritage. As a passionate advocate for preserving history, I believe that leveraging blockchain technology can secure our past for future generations. This initiative resonates with my vision of empowering local communities by creating a platform where everyone can document their stories, ensuring that our diverse narratives thrive in a digital format. By participating in this hackathon, I aim to foster a deeper connection between our history and modern technology, creating a bridge for future learning.

What challenges are you focusing on?

The challenge I aim to address is the preservation and accessibility of historical documents in my community. Many valuable stories and artifacts are at risk of being lost due to lack of awareness and secure storage methods. By providing a platform that not only secures these documents but also encourages community contributions, I hope to combat this issue. Additionally, the verification of document authenticity is crucial in maintaining the integrity of our historical narratives, which is a challenge often overlooked in digital archiving.

How does your submission address this challenge?

Noah’s Arc tackles the challenge of historical preservation by offering a blockchain-based platform that securely stores documents and personal narratives. This ensures that stories are not only preserved but also easily accessible to the community. The community contribution feature encourages individuals to share their own histories, creating a rich tapestry of diverse narratives. By implementing a verification system, we ensure the authenticity of each document, fostering trust and encouraging more people to participate. The potential impact is significant; as we build a comprehensive archive, we strengthen our community’s cultural identity and heritage.

Challenges I ran into

Throughout the development of Noah’s Arc, one significant hurdle was ensuring robust security for stored documents. Initially, I faced challenges in selecting the right blockchain technology that could balance security with user accessibility. After extensive research and testing, I opted for a combination of Ethereum for its strong security features and IPFS for decentralized storage. Additionally, integrating user-friendly features while maintaining security protocols required multiple iterations of design. By engaging with potential users for feedback, I refined the interface to make it intuitive without compromising security.

Additional Features

Before the Buildathon, Noah’s Arc focused primarily on document storage. During the hackathon, I added community engagement features, allowing users to contribute narratives and rate the authenticity of shared documents. This has transformed the platform into a collaborative space where community members actively participate in preserving their histories.
