The problem NFTarot solves

A daily tarot practice provides a life with more clarity, compassion, and fulfillment. But for the chronically online, an online solution is needed. Existing digital tarot offerings have busy UIs, over-complicated reading flows, and can feel arbitrary. Existing onchain tarot offerings are just token gated versions of the same.

Our Approach:

We offer an accessible and grounded tarot reading experience powered by the blockchain. Querents can enter into and be present in sacred space, aligning with themselves and with the collective consciousness to access the unique guidance they need:

2. Mint to receive your reading

We're also building unique features enabled by developing onchain:

• With previous readings users can access previous readings for long term insights.
• With creator tools (forthcoming) artists can share their own decks, and users can choose which decks to pull from (the relationship between the artist and the querent makes for a stronger exchange of energy)
• With share options, users can share their readings and encourage others to do their own. We may offer compatability readings in the future.

Before beginning a busy day onchain, take a moment to breathe deeply and reflect. A tarot card, easily accessible in your browser wherever you are, and chosen through your energy exchange with the blockchain, will offer the insight you need to move with intention and intuition through your day.

Challenges we ran into

Our team came into our NFTarot project green, wanting to build a tarot experience that was fully onchain (and not totally understanding what that meant.) We had met once.

We had a clear vision for NFTarot’s features, but had to compromise for our MVP due to time constraints:

1. enter the tarot space by connecting your wallet
2. pull a card that feels right
3. mint it see your revealed card pull with its reading
4. share your reading on socials
5. see all your previous readings
6. creator tool for tarot decks
7. user interface for choosing decks
8. expanded readings

With only June to build, we pushed for the first five features, planning to provide creator tools and expanded readings in the next phase.

Our team was in transit/different time zones, juggling other obligations, using different coding approaches, & experiencing finicky wifi throughout this build. Through trial and error we learned our preferred methods of communication, how to best branch, commit, push, merge, etc. for agile programming, and how to have patience when the wifi network dropped.

Some of our major technical challenges included: learning TypeScript for the first time, connecting our site with the database and aligning the database with the onchain collection, and navigation Base Sepolia on Zora. We're still in the process of transitioning from Base Sepolia to Base Mainnet due to some technical difficulties. Consultation and pair programming with Grace. Sweets, and Claude helped us tackle unfamiliar parts of db schemas and contract addresses with confidence.

Despite the challenges, we trusted the process. And now NFTarot exists & is based.
