The problem Nexus solves

The problem is simple: research is vulnerable. Ideas get stolen, contributions go unrecognized, and privacy is often compromised. Researchers, especially independent ones, face roadblocks—whether it’s fear of sabotage or not being fairly compensated. The system is broken.

We used Web3 to fix it. With blockchain technology, we eliminate the middlemen. No more gatekeepers deciding who gets credit or payment. Research is stored securely and transparently, without risk of manipulation. Contributors can work anonymously, knowing their contributions are safe and their identities protected.

We’ve also integrated Decentralized Git into the process. Unlike traditional Git, which relies on centralized servers, this version ensures that all contributions are versioned and stored on a decentralized network. This means no single point of failure, no risk of data being lost or tampered with. It’s the perfect blend of transparency and security.

NFTs allow researchers to own their work fully. Once their research is completed, it’s minted as a non-fungible token—proof that it’s theirs. They can sell it, trade it, or keep it. It’s a new way of owning intellectual property, where the value is directly tied to the work itself, not to a centralized system that doesn’t always have their best interests at heart.

By using Web3 and Decentralized Git, we create a truly decentralized space—free of exploitation, where the work itself drives the value, and those who create it are the ones who benefit.

Challenges we ran into

setting up test networks, forked up the ethereum mainnet and set up a sandbox testnet, which records only our transcations

setting up threeJS 3D animations, had to brute force to get the NFT marketplace website running, had to model own 3d model for the research paper cuz there is none online.

we had to write our own git helpers so we can tap into the blockchain to store the code and data.
