Motor neuron disorders like ALS impair speech and expression, affecting identity and independence. Traditional aids lack emotional depth. NeuroPulse enables mood-based word prediction and hands-free selection, offering expressive, accessible communication.
Challenges we ran into
Accurate Mood Detection:
Interpreting mood from EEG signals beacause Users with ALS may have limited facial mobility or speech, making mood inference difficult.
Hands-Free Word Selection:
Designing an interface that works with minimal motor function.
Challenge: Eye-tracking can be error-prone, slow, or fatiguing
Handling false positive was the biggest issue.
