Nard.chat - Decentralized Narratives for the New Creative Era

We are the animation studio of La Blocka. We want to decentralize our audiovisual production, but there is no platform that meets the requirements to make this possible. That's why we developed Nard.chat for La Blocka, and many more projects to come. Here’s how our project solves these problems and enhances creative collaboration:
The Problem:
- Economic Impact: 42% of professional writers’ income has disappeared since 2009 (Authors Guild).
- Job Security: 800 million creative jobs are at risk due to automation (McKinsey).
- Exploitation by Web2: Centralized platforms exploit creative labor, pay minimal wages, and often erase authorship, leading to a loss of cultural identity and authentic voices.
Why It Matters:
It's not just about money; it's about cultural identity. When algorithms replace artists, we lose authentic stories, local voices, and the human essence of art.
The Solution: Nard.chat
Nard.chat is a collaborative creation protocol where every contribution is recorded in smart contracts, making each story a communal asset and ensuring each artist receives their rightful value.
How It Works:
-
On-Chain Collective Creation: Scripts, illustrations, and animations are built collaboratively and stored on Base Sepolia, ensuring censorship resistance and global accessibility. Each contribution generates an on-chain Attribution Interaction that certifies authorship and rights.
-
Cross-Chain Reputation : I.e. NFT holders earn verifiable reputation badges across any blockchain. Sponsors can fund projects and publicly demonstrate their support.
-Seamless Integration with Farcaster: We aim to implement a login system using Farcaster, ensuring a seamless and secure user experience. Additionally, responses published on Nard.chat will be reflected on Warpcast, and vice versa, creating a unified and interconnected ecosystem for creators.
-**We are running simulations to strive for a meritocratic but no so steep "pareto distribution" of the voting power.
For Whom?
- Collectors/Web3 Brands: Fund the next cross-chain comic and earn royalties.
- Communities: Transform local stories into global digital treasures.
-Sponsors: Back creative projects and gain public recognition for your support.
The Vision:
In Web3, culture isn’t just consumed—it’s owned, protected, and perpetuated.

Challenges we ran into
During the development of Nard.chat, we encountered several notable obstacles. Here’s how we overcame them:
1. Creating a Seamless User Experience (UX):
- Challenge: Designing an intuitive and engaging UX that caters to both tech-savvy and non-tech-savvy users.
- Solution: We simplified the interface and ensured that key features, such as the nested comment system and upvote/downvote mechanisms, were easily accessible and understandable. Our focus on clean design and clear navigation has resulted in a user-friendly platform that encourages active participation. Simple login and just the admins and mods interact to put stories on-chain.
2. Efficient Data Storage on the Blockchain:
- Challenge: Determining the most efficient way to store data on the blockchain.
- Solution: We chose to use Base Sepolia for its censorship resistance and accessibility to users with project like Farecaster that its going to be a way to onboard users to stories. By storing all data and hashes of the actual content on-chain.
3. Implementing Data Storage in the App:
- Challenge: Integrating blockchain data storage seamlessly into the application without compromising performance.
- Solution: We used ethers.js v6 to interact with the blockchain, ensuring secure and efficient data transactions. By abstracting the complexity of blockchain interactions, we provided a smooth experience for users, allowing them to focus on creating and collaborating without worrying about the underlying technology. Even Ohara helps us to see all the stories On.chain!!!!!
4. Managing User Legitimacy and Reputation:
- Challenge: Ensuring that only legitimate users contribute to the platform, especially during the initial phases.
- Solution: For this demo, we implemented admin permissions to control who can contribute, preventing spam and malicious intent. In the future, we plan to transition to a reputation system where users and community members must own reputation to participate. This will incentivize good behavior and legitimize contributions, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem of trusted creators.
By addressing these challenges head-on, we’ve built a robust and user-centric platform that not only meets the needs of creators but also sets a new standard for decentralized collaborative storytelling.
