As technology advances, GenZ is increasingly active on social media, connecting globally but often neglecting real-life interactions and personal growth activities. Despite numerous online connections, many feel lonely and unhappy, leading to a rise in mental health issues like depression and anxiety, often stemming from inactivity and the fear of real-world rejection. To address this, we've developed an AI Companion designed to encourage self-expression, interaction, and personal connection. This AI friend is available anytime for deep conversations, helping users explore their interests without the pressure to impress, and enhancing self-understanding. Additionally, it features a dashboard to connect users with family and friends, alerting them when someone may need support, thus combating loneliness and boosting confidence and mental well-being. Our solution, accessible to all, offers an affordable alternative to traditional therapy, promoting mental health improvement over time for GenZ.
3D Model Interface & AI Pipeline Integration:
One of our biggest challenges was figuring out how to blend the 3D model interface with our AI pipeline. Initially, our experience with 3D models was pretty limited, which meant a steep learning curve. After hitting a few walls, we dove deep into research, tutorials, and a lot of trial and error.
Avoiding Bias:
Another significant challenge was ensuring our research and development process was free from bias. In a project where understanding and empathy are key, bias could easily undermine the whole effort. To tackle this, we adopted a multi-faceted approach:
We diversified our research sources to include a wide range of perspectives.
Regular team discussions helped us challenge our assumptions and consider alternative viewpoints.
Implementing feedback loops with test users from different backgrounds allowed us to identify and correct bias we might have missed.
