Why are you participating for Based SEA?

I’m excited to participate in Based SEA to bring my innovative ideas to the forefront of the Web3 ecosystem. Southeast Asia's rapid digital growth and entrepreneurial spirit inspire me to contribute impactful solutions, particularly in areas like decentralized identity, blockchain-based employment, and biometric verification. I see immense potential in this region, where technology can transform industries and create more accessible, secure, and decentralized opportunities for individuals and businesses. By participating, I aim to not only showcase my project but also collaborate and learn from the vibrant community here, pushing the boundaries of what's possible with blockchain technology.

What challenges are you focusing on?

I am focusing on addressing key challenges in the Web3 employment ecosystem, including decentralized identity verification, secure and transparent payment systems, and dispute resolution. In many communities, especially in Southeast Asia, there's a lack of trust and infrastructure for secure job contracts, payments, and identity verification. By building on Base, I aim to create a platform that leverages blockchain to offer immutable records, biometric verification, and escrow-based payments, ensuring that both employers and workers can interact transparently and securely. This helps reduce fraud, enhances trust, and promotes decentralized work opportunities.

How does your submission address this challenge?

My project tackles key challenges in the Web3 employment ecosystem, focusing on decentralized identity verification, secure payments, and fair dispute resolution. Using Base’s Layer 2, the platform introduces a secure on-chain identity system that leverages biometric verification and decentralized identifiers (DIDs) to prevent fraud and establish trust between workers and employers.

The platform also employs smart contracts for escrow-based payments, ensuring funds are securely held until agreed-upon milestones are achieved. This reduces disputes over payment and guarantees that both parties fulfill their obligations. In case of conflicts, the project integrates a decentralized ticketing system for transparent dispute resolution, ensuring that issues are handled fairly and efficiently. Furthermore, the platform enables real-time communication through chat, streamlining interactions and ensuring all transactions and agreements are recorded on-chain.

By addressing these challenges, the project fosters greater trust in decentralized work environments and expands job opportunities for freelancers, gig workers, and businesses in Southeast Asia. It offers a secure and transparent way to engage in work contracts, reducing unemployment and increasing access to digital entrepreneurship while promoting financial inclusion across the region. The solution can be a significant enabler in building trust in the growing Web3 economy, contributing to the region's broader digital transformation.

Challenges I ran into

During the development of this project for Base, I encountered several challenges, both technical and non-technical. One of the main technical hurdles was implementing biometric authentication directly on-chain using WebAuthn. Integrating face recognition and biometric data storage in a decentralized manner required careful management of user data, particularly ensuring wallet addresses were the only identifiers stored, which was critical for preserving user privacy.

Another issue arose with file handling and image uploads for user verification. Ensuring secure, efficient file management with Pinata and aligning it with the Base network's infrastructure took significant effort. This required revisiting several backend components and adjusting APIs for Base.

Additionally, creating a seamless user experience on Base involved managing contract deployment intricacies and refining features like escrow, milestone-based payments, and decentralized dispute resolution. Overcoming these challenges required deep dives into the Base infrastructure, extensive testing, and close coordination between frontend and backend systems.

Despite these hurdles, the project remained on track by implementing incremental changes, focusing on the robust capabilities of the Base ecosystem, and leveraging its flexibility for on-chain interactions.

Additional Features Added During the Buildathon
During the Buildathon, we enhanced our Web3 job marketplace with several key features to improve functionality and user experience:

Biometric Verification: Implemented WebAuthn-based biometric registration and verification for secure user authentication, prioritizing privacy by only storing wallet addresses.

Integrated Ticketing System: Developed a combined chat and ticketing interface that allows users to create and manage tickets linked to specific job contracts, facilitating effective communication and dispute resolution.

File Upload Functionality: Added an option for users to upload attachments within the chat and ticketing system, enabling seamless sharing of relevant documents during discussions.

Cross-Chain Messaging: Integrated Wormhole for cross-chain messaging, enhancing communication and transaction capabilities across different blockchain networks while focusing primarily on the Base network.

Real-Time Communication: Launched a live chat interface using Push Protocol, allowing real-time communication between employers and employees once a job contract is accepted.

UI Enhancements: Improved the visual design of the application to achieve a polished, professional look inspired by Coinbase, while maintaining some neon/glow branding elements for a unique identity.

Super Admin Dashboard: Created a dashboard providing full visibility into disputes and ticket statuses, enabling effective management and resolution of issues within the platform.

These enhancements significantly bolster our platform's functionality and user experience, making it more robust and user-friendly as we innovate in the Web3 job marketplace.
