The problem Memstagram.com solves
Monetize meme engagement: Memstagram addresses the lack of financial incentives for meme creators on traditional social media platforms. By allowing users to earn rewards for their meme engagement, Memstagram transforms the way content creators are compensated. Memes are the perfect medium to bring more web2 users to web3.
Challenges I ran into
Given the high volume of user-generated content and the necessity for rapid content refresh, maintaining an optimal user experience (UX) without overwhelming the database with real-time requests was a critical concern.
To address these issues, we implemented a smart preload caching mechanism. This strategy while mitigated the UX problems and reducing the latency associated with Elasticsearch’s multiple indexes but also introduced new challenges, particularly in UX consistency and cache invalidation.
Our solution to these emerging issues was the deployment of a smart, event-based distributed cache logic. This cache is dynamically updated through various user interactions with social content. By leveraging event-driven architecture, we ensured that the cache remains synchronized across multiple nodes in our distributed system. Each interaction, whether it’s a like, comment, or share, or a vote with your crypto, triggers an event that updates the cache in real-time, maintaining data integrity and consistency.
This advanced caching strategy drastically improves data retrieval times, ensuring that users experience minimal latency and high responsiveness. The combination of preload caching and event-driven updates allows us to scale effectively while maintaining a seamless and engaging user experience, even under heavy load conditions.
Nevertheless, the biggest challenge lies ahead. At Memstagram, our primary focus is on the app's usage, retention and user experience, with incentives, airdrops, and rewards as added bonuses. Therefore, we're eager to launch our Beta soon to fine-tune our product and ensure it best serves our users.
