The problem MemeSnap solves

I've always loved making memes, but honestly, it used to be a hassle. Finding the right template and coming up with the perfect caption would take forever, and half the time I'd just give up.

That's why I built Memesnap. Now, you just snap a picture or upload one, add your context, and get a hilarious meme in seconds.

No more overthinking or searching for templates. It's become my go-to way to make my group chats and stories way more fun, and it saves me so much time.

If you love memes but hate the struggle, Memesnap makes it easy for anyone to create and share spot-on memes instantly.

Challenges I ran into

Building Memesnap came with its fair share of challenges, especially since this was my first time creating a full stack product from scratch as a non-techie. I had to learn Svelte and SvelteKit on the go, figure out how to set up secure server-side APIs, and get Supabase Auth working smoothly for signups. Integrating Loops.so with Supabase to send auth emails was a bit tricky, and setting up the domain and server on Cloudflare took some trial and error.

I ran into bugs with authentication flows and some issues with deploying the AI backend powered by Google Gemini. Version control and managing multiple branches on GitHub was also new for me, but I got the hang of it after a few late nights.

What helped was breaking down the spec on Napkin.page, designing flows in Figma, and getting support from tools like Dia Browser, Windsurf, and v0 by Vercel. I kept iterating and fixing bugs as I went, and by the end of the week, I had a working app. Next up, I'm polishing the UI, squashing more bugs, and setting up PostHog for analytics.
