The problem MeetSummarizer solves
Simplified Summarization: MeetSummarizer extracts captions created during the meeting and summarises them into brief, readable information, making it easier to summarise Google Meet talks.
Enhanced Learning: MeetSummarizer helps promote enhanced learning and retention of important information addressed during the meeting by automatically creating quizzes based on the summarised content.
Time-saving: MeetSummarizer helps users quickly understand the important points of lengthy chats without requiring them to manually go over the entire conversation by automating the summarising process.
Accessibility: Offers post-meeting quizzes and summarised meeting materials so that participants can review and solidify their knowledge of key points covered.
Challenges we ran into
API Selection: Difficulty in identifying an acceptable text summarising API that fits the project's functional, accuracy, and compatibility requirements.
Permissions for Caption show: The limitations imposed by Google Meet's policies make it impossible to directly extract and show the captions created during meetings; instead, alternate techniques must be used to retrieve and handle the meeting audio.
Complexity of Integration: Compatibility and functionality issues arose when integrating many technologies and elements, such as quiz creation, text summarising, and caption extraction, into a unified and smooth extension.
