MedXR

An XR-based Medical surgery training software. Using MedXR, Students can easily understand the procedure and perform the specific surgeries.

The problem MedXR solves

  1. Limited Access to Real Surgical Cases:
Reduced dependence on live surgeries for learning.
Increased availability of diverse surgical cases.

  2. Passive Learning Experience:
    Active participation through virtual simulation.
    Enhanced engagement and skill development.

  3. High Risk to Patients:
Elimination of patient risk in training.
Improved safety for both patients and learners.

  4. Inconsistency in Exposure:
Standardized exposure to a wide range of surgeries.
Equal opportunities for all learners regardless of location.

  5. Limited Feedback and Assessment:
    Objective and consistent feedback mechanisms.
    Continuous assessment of learner performance.

Challenges we ran into

Hardware Compatibility Challenges: Ensuring seamless integration with various XR hardware devices, ranging from VR headsets to haptic feedback gloves, can be complex due to differences in specifications and protocols.

Ethical Dilemmas in Content Creation: Balancing the need for realistic surgical simulations with ethical considerations regarding graphic content, patient privacy, and potential desensitization of users poses unique challenges in content creation.

Dynamic Anatomy Simulation: Developing dynamic anatomical models that accurately mimic the complexities of human tissue response to surgical procedures, including bleeding, tissue deformation, and organ interactions, presents significant technical hurdles.

Regulatory Compliance: Navigating the regulatory landscape to ensure compliance with medical device regulations, patient safety standards, and data privacy laws across different jurisdictions adds layers of complexity to the development and deployment process.
