Challenges I ran into
Integrating Diverse Features in One App
Combining multiple modules like document management, AI symptom checker, chat assistant, reminders, nutrition guide, and guided meditation into a single cohesive UI without making it overwhelming was a major design and technical challenge.
Handling User Authentication Across Modules
Ensuring Firebase authentication worked smoothly across all features (especially when fetching user-specific data from the backend) required syncing frontend and backend logic and session handling.
Managing Media Uploads and Preprocessing
Uploading and handling medical images (PDFs, prescriptions, etc.) and running OCR or AI analysis on them required proper backend file handling, Sharp module compatibility, and careful resource management on deployment platforms like Render.
How I Overcome from it
Modular Development Approach
We divided the project into clear modules (documents, reminders, AI tools, etc.), allowing parallel development and easier debugging. This kept the codebase manageable despite the wide scope.
Used Firebase Auth for Seamless User Management
Firebase Authentication helped us unify login and user identity across the app, enabling consistent access control and user-specific data retrieval in both frontend and backend.
Handled Sharp & Platform Errors with Fallbacks
For deployment issues like the sharp module on Render, we either removed the dependency or rebuilt the environment using platform-specific flags (--include=optional, etc.) to ensure compatibility.
