In India everyday more than 12,000 people fail to get blood due to shortage. There are many potential donors who are willing to donate their blood but are not able to connect with the needy people during emergency. Due to lack of coordination between hospitals and blood banks more than 1 million unit of blood components are wasted. During emergencies finding a donor immediately is highly difficult and making a blood request to the blood banks consumes a huge amount of time.
Objectives
What it does
The web app enables hospitals/NGOs to register and post their status of availability of blood of different blood groups. This information is stored in our server and displayed to users who need help. Users can register themselves and look at the information posted by the organisations and request blood directly.
It also allows the users to store their information and health records in a safe and organized manner that can be retrieved and used at any needed instance .
Challenges we ran into
1.We faced difficulty in using third-party hospital APIs.
2.Rendering the data from the database to the frontend
3.We wanted to share the donor’s live location but had a tough time integrating the Google Maps API.
