Understanding the Problem
The traditional method of managing medical test results involves cumbersome paperwork, scattered reports, and the risk of misplacement or loss. Patients often find themselves struggling to maintain an organized record of their tests, leading to confusion during follow-up appointments or when seeking consultations with healthcare providers. Additionally, to see how the user's health has progressed over time, they have to read through hundreds of pages of reports which can easily be misplaced.
The Solution: Meditrackr
Meditrackr addresses these challenges by offering a comprehensive platform that centralizes medical test results, simplifies data management, and enhances accessibility for users. Let's explore the key features and benefits of Meditrackr in detail:
•Streamlined Test Result Management:With Meditrackr, users can say goodbye to the hassle of managing piles of paperwork and scattered test reports. The platform allows individuals to easily upload, store, update and delete their medical test results in a secure digital environment. Whether it's a complete blood count (CBC), kidney function test (KFT), lipid profile, or any other diagnostic test, users can conveniently access their results anytime, anywhere.
•PDF Generation and Integrated Map functionality:One of the many features of Meditrackr is its ability to generate customized PDF reports containing users test results. Whether for personal records, sharing
Developing Meditrackr had its fair share of challenges, especially when integrating the map feature and dealing with PDF generation issues. The map integration was particularly tricky as we needed a combination of Leaflet API and OpenStreetMap. We had to dive deep into documentation, troubleshoot compatibility issues, and experiment extensively to get it right. But in the end, we managed to create a map integration, allowing users to easily find nearby pathology labs.
On the other hand, the PDF library we initially chose didn't live up to expectations. Despite its reputation, it didn't work as expected, and the examples provided were not helpful. This forced us to pivot and find an alternative solution. We stumbled upon a plugin called jsPDF-AutoTable, which proved to be a game-changer. With this plugin, we were able to enhance our PDF generation functionality, enabling users to generate professional-looking reports effortlessly.
