Onchain Funding for Doctor Education.
The problem MediMint RWA solves
Many aspiring doctors, especially in developing regions, are unable to afford specialist education due to high upfront costs and lack of credit history. Traditional student loans often come with predatory interest or inaccessibility. On the other side, global donors lack a transparent and secure way to fund future medical professionals with measurable impact and repayment assurance.
MediMint RWA solves this by tokenizing medical education journeys as soulbound NFTs (SBTs), allowing anyone to fund a doctor’s 4–6 year journey. Chainlink modules ensure repayment is simulated, verified, and secure—while AI modules monitor risk and trigger automated on-chain actions. It brings transparency, traceability, and impact assurance to a previously opaque and underfunded sector.
Challenges I ran into
One major challenge was simulating a long-term repayment model (4–6 years) using short-term on-chain tools. Since most DeFi protocols operate in short cycles, we had to create a mock vault system that reflects multi-year commitments and real-world education timelines.
Another technical hurdle was ensuring Chainlink Automation and Functions worked harmoniously across roles (Donor, Student, Validator) while maintaining simulation accuracy and secure role separation. This required rewriting the logic multiple times and simulating milestone-based automation triggers.
Lastly, modeling Soulbound Token (SBT) behavior with partial upgradeability and permanent binding to identity—while keeping things testnet-compatible—took multiple iterations and UI adjustments to reflect the non-transferable state without confusing users.
We overcame these by modularizing components, simulating long-term events using milestone-mapped block triggers, and leveraging Chainlink Functions as a flexible execution layer.
