The problem MediKal solves

The one-stop destination for routine health checkups, live video consultancy, booking appointments, and 247 healthcare support. Since due to the COVID pandemic, people are afraid to visit hospitals and health cliniques. In such times, an online healthcare portal would not only solve the problem at hand but would also ensure that no query of the patient goes unnoticed. 247 support ensures that at all times there would be a professional to help you even remotely. Other stand out features like appointment reminder, treatment history, digital prescription and notes make the web app even more user friendly.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a couple of challenges some of them are as follows:-

  1. Video calling functions on the foundation of WebRTC which makes use of peer connections which are supposed to be one to one connection, but since we wanted to make a group video call application so as to account cases like couple therapy or senior citizen care, etc, we had to find a way to overcome this shortcoming.
  2. We wanted the application to be as accessible as possible such that the hospital/organization or doctor need not have a premade portal to manage patients, appointments, etc. So we had to essentially make portals for doctors, hospitals, and patients.
  3. Maintaining the timetable, schedule, and appointments of a doctor.
  4. Making the web app user friendly such that users with limited technical knowledge like Senior Citizens and rural citizens could also run the application hassle-free.
