The problem MediCompile solves

MediCompile is a software solution designed to streamline the process of managing and analyzing medical documents of varioius languages and forms. It accelarates the process for doctors to review patients' medical records by automatically extracting pertinent information from uploaded images of diverse medical documents, such as electronic health records, handwritten notes, and prescriptions, and storing them in an SQL database. Our system can also translate documents written in foreign languages into English and extract crucial details within seconds, a task that would typically require 1 or 2 weeks if done manually.

We've developed an intuitive portal for doctors to efficiently analyze the compiled data using natural language processing. This includes a natural language to SQL query converter, enabling even doctors who are not so familiar with the database to swiftly filter patient information. Additionally, our system provides functionality to summarize patients' medical histories and issue notifications to doctors when necessary. Furthermore, we've implemented a disease prediction feature that utilizes patients' past medical records and symptoms to determine potential diagnoses.

Challenges we ran into

One of the most significant challenges we encountered during this hackathon revolved around the development of the backend API to meet our project's requirements. Given the substantial volume of data in our database, we faced the crucial task of determining the specific information to include in the API response.

The complexity arose from the need to strike a balance between providing comprehensive data for doctors' analysis and ensuring the response remained manageable and efficient. Navigating this process involved extensive collaboration and brainstorming among our team members. We conducted thorough discussions to identify the key insights that doctors would require to make informed decisions about patient care. Simultaneously, we worked to optimize the API's performance to deliver these insights swiftly and seamlessly.

Despite the challenges, our team's dedication and expertise enabled us to overcome these obstacles and deliver a robust backend API that effectively serves the needs of our project. Through perseverance, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving, we successfully navigated the complexities inherent in building a comprehensive and secure data infrastructure for medical professionals.
