Decentralized Medicine Supply Chain Management System
The problem Medic Ledger solves
1. Counterfeit Medicines -
Fake and substandard drugs lead to preventable deaths and undermine trust in healthcare systems.
2. Lack of Supply Chain Transparency -
Traditional pharmaceutical supply chains lack end-to-end visibility, enabling fraud and unauthorized distribution.
3. Unauthorized Distributors -
Fake companies can infiltrate the supply chain, distributing counterfeit drugs in the name of legitimate manufacturers.
4. Corruption in Pharma Donations -
Donated medicines often fail to reach intended recipients due to manual errors, middlemen, or intentional diversion.
Challenges we ran into
Challenge: Ensuring that only verified manufacturers, distributors, and retailers could access the system was time-consuming.
Solution: We implemented a verifier role and a tiered KYC process, using IPFS to securely store credentials and automating parts of the workflow.
Challenge: Many stakeholders lacked technical familiarity with blockchain.
Solution: We built an intuitive, role-specific UI with clear onboarding flows and tooltips to guide users through registration, verification, and NFT transactions.
Challenge: Preventing fake drug listings and ensuring fair donations in a decentralized environment.
Solution: We used smart contract-based rules to control who can list and transfer medicine NFTs, ensuring traceability and transparency.
