Online Consultancy Made Easy

The problem MEDEASE solves

This project is a digital healthcare platform designed to make online medical consultation simple, affordable, and reliable. The system helps patients easily find the right doctor by suggesting nearby hospitals and doctors based on their symptoms, location, and medical needs. This reduces confusion and saves time for users who are unsure about where to seek treatment.

The platform makes online consultation easier by providing features such as free follow-up consultations and digital (e-) prescriptions after each consultation. Patients are encouraged to consult doctors from nearby hospitals so that, if the doctor feels an in-person checkup is needed, the patient can continue treatment offline at the nearest hospital without any difficulty. This ensures smooth coordination between online and offline healthcare.

A key feature of the platform is a new model for online consultation, where hospitals collaborate by providing doctors on a shift basis for online services. This helps reduce consultation fees, improves doctor availability, and makes quality healthcare more affordable.

Additional features include symptom-based doctor and hospital filtering, prescription decoding to help patients understand their medicines, easy appointment booking, and integration with e-pharmacy services for ordering medicines. Overall, the platform aims to make healthcare access more convenient, cost-effective, and patient-friendly.

Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges was connecting the backend with the frontend and ensuring that all necessary data was accurately reflected on both the hospital and doctor dashboards. Managing multiple user roles—patients, doctors, and hospitals—required careful handling of data flow so that each user could access only relevant and updated information.

Another challenge was implementing the consultation workflow, where details from an online consultation needed to be correctly stored, processed, and displayed across the system. This included capturing patient information, symptoms, doctor notes, and follow-up recommendations in a structured manner.

Generating reports and e-prescriptions after consultations was also challenging. The system had to automatically create accurate medical reports and digital prescriptions based on the doctor’s inputs, while ensuring clarity, correctness, and data security. Designing this process to be reliable and easy for doctors to use, while also making the output understandable for patients, required careful planning and implementation.

Overall, maintaining data consistency, real-time updates, and smooth integration between different system components was a key technical challenge during development.
