The problem Meal-Virtue solves

Virtue generally means an act of high moral values and helping others. And what could be a better feeling than feeding people who are unprevildeged and are barely even able to afford a day's meal. Meal-Virtue is an online web portal which helps you carry out a hassle free donation process. You can donate, register your NGO, get the nutritional value of your food and get awarded for it. An initiative for people who want to donate leftover food and do not find right place. We provide a platform for the people who want to donate leftover food so that these food can reach to needy person and we can stop food wastage. Food donation is the utmost service of love and care you can show for the poor and needy. Our idea here is to present an web portal for online food donation where you can donate food without any hassle or issues.

Donation are carried out less in number, as people do not find the right NGO for donation, and NGO search for people who want to donate. The platform links them both. At the end of the user, the user can donate, gain points and also look at what he has donated and has it reached the people required. On the other end, the NGOs can register themselves on our portal and can collect food from users and can serve the mankind as they already are doing. This is one of the first web portal where in everyone can track, donate and also get rewarded based on donations.

You can list your raw food and donate them before the expiry date. Also get an idea of the exact nutritional value the food holds, so that you get an idea how many people you help.

Challenges we ran into

Google maps for development purposes made it difficult fo us to incorporate map based tracking. We got it through though, the website still shows the development map. It was difficult to get the submissions of the document, profile images and NGOs to a single platform, so we had to make different folders for them which was long and tedious. Mialing activity required a long time to get integrated, and we were still not able to get through the message alerts in this hackathon. The challenge ahead is to get the cost of the project right so that the project is self sustainable. We are working on it.
