LOL (LOVE OUT LOUD)
Where ART sparks connection!
The problem LOL (LOVE OUT LOUD) solves
Current dating apps are very superficial and only connect people based on what kind of people or relationship they are looking for. There is lack of meaningful connection and people are hesitant to start conversations. This app LOL(Love out Loud) helps to bridge that gap, and connects based on music, cinema and literature. The apps database connects with the database of the
several apps mentioned(including spotify, letterboxd, goodreads etc) and matches the users with high percentage of similarities in taste with the other users of the app. Users may choose between choosing any one option or three of them. For music, it considers the artists, albums and genres you listen to. For movies, the directors, movies and specially the genre is considered. For books, the author, books read and genres would be considered. This would also serve as a incredible icebreaker and people would be more likely to start conversations and meet new people. It works exatcly like a real life situation where you interact with people during you favourite band's concert or happening to read the same book in a coffee shop.
Challenges we ran into
We had issues figuring the logic behind combining the databases to make the match but with the addition of the parameters(like most listened to singer or five star movies), we could bring that to life as well. How much security is too much or too less? Figuring out the questions and pictures the user had to input was a tough decision. We wanted it to be a smooth experience for the user and not get too tiresome. We ended up making it a mandate to add photos, who they identify as and who do they like. This makes it a more inclusive experience yet keeping the process streamlined. It was also really challenging to maintian the design language and shape as it was the first time we worked on such a project. We all learned and hope to keep improving our skill sets.
