The problem Little Invest Town - LIT solves

Stock markets are hard to analyze and there has been a surge in the number of people starting to invest in the markets. Stock markets are liquid, available on mobile, and provide good returns. However, not everyone comes has a financial background and it is harder to comprehend various figures and metrics on company finances. LIT converts complex business metrics into easy-to-understand, rich insights. LIT represents companies by an avatar with personal finances represented as a scaled-down.

Challenges we ran into

There is no open and documented API that provides company data and financial statements. From the list of companies gathered from the NSE website, we needed to find a method through which we can gather the income and balance sheets of each company. We tried looking for APIs on NSE/BSE websites, Reverse engineering undocumented public APIs, Pasring Annual reports for companies, and Web scraping. We decided to move on to web scraping the financial figures of 450 companies using puppeteer
