Bridging Connections Beyond the Internet 🛜

The problem LinkUp solves

This project addresses the challenge of communication and file sharing in areas with limited or no internet connectivity, such as during emergencies, in remote locations, or for privacy-conscious users. The app enables offline messaging, file sharing, and geo-tagged messaging using technologies like Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth, ensuring users can stay connected without relying on central servers or mobile data. It seamlessly switches between offline and online modes, prioritizing ease of use, privacy, and high-speed local transfers. By offering a reliable and secure platform, the app empowers users to communicate and collaborate efficiently in both everyday and critical scenarios.

Challenges we ran into

One of the key challenges we are currently facing is ensuring seamless communication between devices using Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth, as these technologies often have compatibility issues across different operating systems and device models. Maintaining connection stability and reliable data transfer in offline mode is proving to be complex, requiring constant testing and fine-tuning. We are also working on creating a user-friendly interface for device discovery and connection, which is challenging due to the technical intricacies of peer-to-peer networking. Integrating geo-tagged messaging has been particularly demanding, as it requires precise handling of location services and offline storage. Additionally, balancing privacy and performance remains a significant hurdle, as we aim to ensure secure, direct communication without compromising speed or usability.
