Light up fishing nets

This is a prototype of a fishing net that lights up when below a particular sea depth and gives out a high-frequency sound to help to keep other creatures away from the nets.

The problem Light up fishing nets solves

This project focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 14 - Life below water. It aims to tackle the problem of "by-catch" where fishing nets accidentally trap unwanted sea creatures (like turtles and dolphins) in them. This fishing net, unlike other nets, has an attached component of an LED display on my BBC micro:bit that acts as a visual warning for the unwanted sea creatures to stay away from the nets.

Challenges I ran into

Using a BBC micro: bit (a pocket-sized computer) for the first time was quite difficult. I wanted to be adventurous and to try something new hence I went ahead with this idea. I had to run my code on the micro: bit multiple times before it finally worked.
