Connecting Lives Saving Future

The problem LifeLink solves

Many people face difficulties in accessing critical hospital information during emergencies, including real-time bed availability, blood stock status, and ambulance tracking. Additionally, existing hospital websites often lack accessibility features for differently-abled individuals, the visually impaired, and elderly patients, making it harder for them to navigate and get timely help.
Our platform, LifeLink, aims to solve these issues by providing real-time updates on hospital resources, allowing users to track ambulances in emergencies, and offering an inclusive, speech-enabled interface designed to be highly accessible for individuals with different types of blindness.

Challenges we ran into

1️⃣ Blood Availability Filtering & Schema Integration
One of the key challenges we faced was ensuring seamless filtering of hospitals based on blood availability. While we successfully imported hospital and blood availability data into our database, establishing a well-structured relationship between these datasets required meticulous schema design. The challenge lay in efficiently querying and indexing the data to ensure that users could instantly find hospitals with their required blood type. Optimizing database performance while maintaining data integrity was crucial to delivering a smooth user experience.

2️⃣ Real-Time Ambulance Tracking & Route Integration
Another significant hurdle was implementing real-time tracking for ambulances and integrating maps to display the most efficient routes. The challenge was twofold—first, obtaining live location data from ambulances, and second, synchronizing it with mapping APIs to provide accurate and dynamic routing. Handling latency issues, ensuring reliable data transmission, and optimizing the UI to display real-time updates without lag required a strategic approach.

3️⃣ Hospital System Integration & Data Synchronization
Integrating our system with hospitals posed both technical and logistical challenges. Hospitals maintain their data in various formats, and ensuring seamless communication between our system and their existing infrastructure was a complex task. Standardizing data exchange, implementing secure API integrations, and maintaining synchronization without conflicts were key areas we had to address. Additionally, ensuring compliance with healthcare data regulations added another layer of complexity.
