According to the UN, 24% of solid waste are made up of wasted food that ends in landfill.
As per UN statistics, 28% of food waste is at the consumer level. Leftovers are one of the major causes of food wastage problem. So to solve this problem we present Leftover Lift. Leftover lift is a leftover submitting website that accepts leftovers or food waste from restaurants and individuals. It is based on blockchain technology powered by a polygon in the core.
How people can use our app
Many people are dying due to hunger while the amount of food waste and leftover are also increasing at alraming rate. This web app allows people or organizations like restaurants to submit food waste and leftovers by dividing them into consumable and non-consumable. People can register themselves into our app as individual, vendors and distributors.
Consumable food is provided to needy people through submitting individuals, our volunteers, and nonprofit organizations including food banks. They get our exclusive erc20-based token for their successful task. We plan to award top donors monthly with our exclusive nfts which can be used for accessing various perks. We plan to partner with organic manure manufacturing companies to provide raw materials for manure manufacture resulting revenue.
Perks of using our Apps
Talking about perks that can be accessed with tokens and nfts, we plan to partner with restaurants and manufacturing companies to provide exclusive services for token and nft holders. Agro-based companies and vendors like restaurants can list their product on our website which can be bought at better rate with our token and exclusive NFTS.
Successful transactions are made with blockchain which are transparent and our NFTs make easier to verify top donors, collectors and vendors status of certain time period. With our product, we can not only solve hunger issues but also deal with food waste and management in Nepal and the globe.
Challenges we ran into
The first challenge we faced was the logistic issue. Delivering leftovers to respective needy parties was a big challenge. We solved it by allowing people, volunteers, nonprofit organizations, and food banks to signup as distributors and others as vendors and individuals who submit leftovers.
Another problem we faced was how to deal with confirmation that food is not only listed on our platform but also received and delivered. By allowing trusted nonprofit organization and two way confirmation of receipt from both parties, we solved this issue.
