LearnWeb3Js
Bringing JS Devs On-Chain
Why are you participating for Based Africa?
I am participating in Based Africa to contribute to Africa’s growing blockchain ecosystem by making Web3 development accessible to developers across the continent. Africa is rapidly emerging as a hub for technological innovation, but many developers are still unfamiliar with decentralized technologies. With LearnWeb3JS, I aim to onboard JavaScript developers into Web3, giving them the tools they need to build solutions that address local challenges. This project not only empowers developers but also helps create local Web3 solutions that can benefit African communities, aligning with Based Africa's mission to bring real-world impact through blockchain.
What challenges are you focusing on?
The challenge I’m focusing on is the lack of Web3 knowledge and accessible resources for developers in Africa. Most developers in the region have a strong Web2 foundation, but the transition to Web3 can be intimidating due to the complexity of blockchain technologies, smart contracts, and decentralized applications. There’s also a lack of real-world applications in local communities, which prevents Web3 adoption from scaling. By addressing the knowledge gap, I aim to empower developers to build solutions that can bring more people and projects on-chain
How does your submission address this challenge?
LearnWeb3JS solves this challenge by providing an interactive learning platform where developers can learn how to use Web3.js through real DApp examples. The platform includes a real-time code editor, allowing users to experiment with the code and see instant feedback. Additionally, our on-chain AI assistant, Ora AI, helps break down complex blockchain concepts, answering questions and providing insights directly within the platform. By making Web3 development more accessible, LearnWeb3JS enables developers to build blockchain applications that solve local problems, helping African communities embrace decentralized technologies for real-world use cases.
Challenges I ran into
One of the key technical challenges I faced was integrating Ora AI to provide real-time assistance to users. Ensuring that the AI could understand Web3-related queries and provide contextually accurate. I also ran into some issues with building a seamless user experience, ensuring that the platform was user-friendly for both beginner and advanced developers.
Additional Features
The core of the LearnWeb3JS platform was built before the buildathon, but during this event, I added several key features. These include the fine tuining the prompt of Ora AI for the on-chain AI assistance, a new onboarding flow for beginner developers, and additional sample DApps that showcase advanced use cases. The AI assistant was particularly challenging to integrate, as it needed to interact with real-time blockchain data and respond intelligently to developer queries.
Cheer Project
Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
